What Does Blizzard Actually Ban For?

Blizzard's Terms of Service prohibit buying or selling in-game gold and resources for real money, botting, hacking, and account sharing with bad actors. The TOS does not explicitly prohibit buying carry services paid in real money — this has been a legal gray area in WoW since the original Burning Crusade era.

In practice, Blizzard's enforcement focuses on bot networks, gold sellers, and account thieves. In over 15 years of carry services existing, there are zero documented cases of a buyer receiving a ban for purchasing a self-play M+ carry or raid boost paid in USD.

Self-Play vs Piloted: The Real Risk Difference

Self-play carries are essentially risk-free. You're logged into your own account, playing your own character in a legal group. The only difference from pugging is that your group is extremely skilled. Blizzard cannot distinguish this from a regular group.

Piloted carries involve someone else logging into your account — which is account sharing, which is against the TOS. Blizzard does detect unusual login locations (different country, IP range, etc.). Most piloted bans are not permanent — they typically result in a temporary lock requiring SMS verification. But the risk is real.

How to Minimize Risk on Piloted Runs

If you choose a piloted carry, use a seller in the same country or region to minimize IP flag risk. Disconnect your Blizzard Authenticator temporarily and re-enable it after. Inform the seller of your usual play time so they can schedule within your normal hours.

GG Market's verified sellers for piloted carries have thousands of completed runs without a single documented ban. They know the patterns that flag accounts and operate within them. Our Diamond-tier sellers have professional setups with residential IPs near major player regions.

Account Security: The Real Threat

The actual threat to your account isn't Blizzard — it's rogue sellers who steal accounts. This is why buying from random Discord channels is genuinely dangerous. A scammer who has your login can change your password, email, and phone, locking you out permanently.

GG Market prevents this with several layers: sellers never see your password in our messaging system, we require 2FA on all seller accounts, and we hold 20% of seller payouts in reserve for 30 days as a security deposit. Any seller who steals an account loses their reserve and is permanently banned.

The Safest Way to Buy WoW Boosts

Stick to self-play for all Mythic+ content — there's genuinely no reason to use piloted for keys since self-play works perfectly. For raids, self-play master loot runs are also available. Only use piloted if you need specific achievement spam or are time-critical with a level-push.

Always use escrow platforms. Never pay via Venmo, PayPal Friends & Family, or cryptocurrency directly to a seller. GG Market's escrow means your money is returned automatically if the service isn't delivered. You have zero financial risk.
